About Daytrip
Daytrip is local weekends, planned by the people who live here.
I’d finish gym, and then realize I didn’t have my day planned out, so I just wander to my local cafe and then head home. Then think about how I could have had a more satisfying day walking around town.
I noticed I was planning my Portugal vacation days like mini-day trips, focused on an area or neighbourhood. And when I returned from that trip, I wondered: what if I treated my weekends as a mini trip every week. Not necessarily a huge drive out to the lake, but something more modestly sized, so my weekend wouldn’t feel boring.
I built this app where people can share their own little trips. Hopefully, you’d enjoy going on and making trips yourself.

Frequently asked questions
Is Daytrip for tourists?
Not really. Daytrip is for spending time in the city where you live. Visiting friends can come along on a day you’d actually take them on. If you’re after must-see landmarks, ticketed events, or a big night out, there are better apps for that.
Are the trips written by AI?
No. Trips are made by people who live here. I use LLMs to help build the app, but Daytrip doesn’t use AI to generate trips.
Is there an Android app?
iOS for now. iPhone only.
I only have an hour. Still worth it?
Yes. Some trips are a quick pop-out, an hour or so, a few blocks. You set how big a day you have.
Can I do it alone?
Yes. Quiet trips are easy to do alone, or with friends and family.
What is a vibe?
Vibes are the ways Daytrip filters trips you want to go on. Depending on how you feel, you may want to choose trips that vary by energy (how active), scope (how far), and social (how bustling).
Does Daytrip keep a history of where I’ve walked?
No. Most map apps store your location history. Daytrip doesn’t. Location is used to walk the day, then it isn’t kept.
